Stuart Penketh, the Conservative candidate for Ellesmere Port and Neston, slammed the decision of the Labour Government to cut the 'Housing Capital Allocation' from the Northwest by 39.3% and the Labour Dominated Northwest committee has further slashed the allocation to Cheshire West and Chester by a further 16.7%.  This has cut the amount into Cheshire West and Cheshire Council by 56%.

Stuart Penketh Commented.

"When it has been discovered that the Labour run old Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council have handed over a housing stock, where despite the best will of its workforce, the Labour leadership had allowed what is expected to be 50% to not meet the 'Decent Homes Standard'. This is a scandalous action by the Labour Party on what is the most vulnerable people in this area."

Stuart also pointed out the lack of criticism from the local M.P.

"Andrew Miller M.P and the remaining Labour councillors seemed to have got collective amnesia of their shameful handling of housing and yet we have had no criticism of the Government or the Labour dominated Northwest committee on cutting the Housing Capital Allocation."

Stuart also slammed the betrayal of the town's Labour representatives for allowing this to happen.

"All we hear from the Labour councillors and M.P is how great this government is at helping the most disadvantaged, yet when the most disadvantaged of this town are hit there is not a dickey bird of criticism of this cut,  It is left to the Conservative run council to bring housing in the Port and Neston up to the 'Decent Homes Standard' with less money available to us."
